Framlingham Castle
Phill and I decided to get out this weekend but stay local. Suffolk has some of the most beautiful places to visit, and we are fortunate enough to live somewhere people go on holiday.
A driving route favoured by motor enthusiasts, the A1120 offers spectacular scenery, twisting roads, and quaint English pubs and Inns along the route to Framlingham. The ancient market town was bustling with the Saturday market in full swing and only a stone's throw from the castle entrance.
A fantastic place for history lovers! The castle, a 12th-century fortress, is run by English Heritage. The castle is well preserved, and if you are brave enough, you can walk the Castle walls. A museum and gift shop are located in the old workhouse. So much to explore, the exhibit offers a range of exhibits and tales from castle life.
The walks around the castle, the moat, and the surrounding footpaths offer such wonderful splendour, full of wildlife. We were lucky to witness a Kestrel hunting for field snacks. I've become a little obsessed with the delicate beadwork accessories and the embroidered silk cards. The tiny, intricate details are stunning!
